Hot Off the Press: Sweet apples with some serious heat

Meet Project Hot Sauce, founded in 2021 by Dave Phillips - a Bronxville NY-based, farm-to-bottle hot sauce maker bringing the heat while partnering directly with farmers. His latest creation? “The Big Apple” -  made with Mead Orchard’s very own Crimson Crisp apples (shout-out to Sharon for the hookup! 🙌🍎).

Dave’s process is part science, part art: “I see all the ingredients in my mind, then make it.” From dialing in acidity to perfecting flavor in his 15-gallon kettle, every batch is a creative journey (with a few trial-and-error moments along the way!).

When he got his hands on our Crimson Crisps, he knew exactly what to do: “A Winter Elixir sauce… Partnering with local farms is the essence of my company, so it made perfect sense.”

Each recipe is carefully tested and lab-approved to ensure the perfect balance of flavor, safety and shelf stability.

👉 Want to try it? “The Big Apple” hot sauce is now available at Project Hot Sauce’s booth the Pleasantville Farmers Market!
