Frost and Found: Saving the Season
A Freezing Spring Night at the Orchard and How We Fought Back
❄️ Spring on the farm isn’t always gentle. Past frosts have taken a toll on many of our crops, so we’re getting better prepared. With the latest April freeze, our crew worked through the night to help protect the orchard, using mobile heaters, drip irrigation and large fans to pull warmer air down and push cold air away.
It’s all part of life on a Dutchess County farm and doing everything we can to care for our crops and the season ahead.
