PICK YOUR OWN INFO GUIDE
Our Pick Your Own Info Guide
Before heading into our fields, here are some helpful reminders and tips to ensure individual and food safety.
The Orchard is closed for the season. We'll see you again in June 2026.
Check out our handy dandy picking calendar to find out what's ready for picking. Please, only pick what has been identified as ready! Our picking areas are designated with careful consideration for the ripeness of the fruit. Please remember, Mead is a working farm, not a public park. Enjoying fruit off the trees without purchasing may result in being asked to leave.
We offer FREE parking and entry to pick your own produce. You pay only for what you take home... And that's delicious fruits and vegetables.
We gladly accept cash, credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay as payment options for Pick-Your-Own activities and purchases at our Orchard Farmstand.
Wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. Don't forget, you'll be on an active farm. Don't forget your sunscreen, hats, and water! Especially for your little ones.
We have a family sized port-a-potty near our Orchard Farmstand and two standard port-a-potties in the field with hand washing sinks on the back.
During our PYO Seasons, the Orchard is open to visitors rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather conditions, we reserve the right to close for the safety of our patrons. Please stay updated by following and checking our Facebook and Instagram pages for any closure notifications during the season.
During our Fall season, driving through the orchard is not allowed.
Before you begin picking, please wash or sanitize your hands.
We happily permit your fur babies! Leashed dogs are allowed on the property, as long as they are walked outside of growing areas and picked up after.
Picnic tables and spots for blankets are available at the farm - just ask our staff for the best picnic spots. Please remember, Mead is a working farm, not a public park. Enjoying fruit off the trees without purchasing may result in being asked to leave.
We’re sorry, but for safety reasons our Apple Town playground is only open during our Main Fall Apple Picking Season. Thank you for understanding!
For your safety & the well-being of our apples, please don't climb on our trees!
Mead Orchards has a zero tolerance policy regarding harassment of any kind. If your behavior is deemed inappropriate, you will be escorted off the farm immediately.
Mead is not currently organic, as the humid weather in Dutchess County presents significant challenges for our delicate fruit trees. However, we are dedicated to minimizing our use of chemicals, including pesticides.
