Welcome to Mead Orchards

Mead Orchards is our family's picturesque, 180-acre fruit orchard and vegetable farm, located in the beautiful Mid-Hudson River Valley of New York! We've been here since 1916, and now grow nearly 40 varieties of apples, as well as peaches, pears, plums, cherries, strawberries and other berries. We also grow a wide variety of delicious greens, summer vegetables, winter squashes, pumpkins, and decorative gourds.  We're located about 100 miles north of Manhattan, 50 miles south of Albany, and just 4 miles east of the Hudson River. ON the farm:  JUNE through OCTOBER,

From June through October, we open our family's picturesque farm to offer some of our fruit and our pumpkins to you as Pick-Your-Own, and more of our delicious, already picked, fruits and vegetables at our Farm Stand adjacent to the barn. (Note: Pick Strawberries every day as long as they last, BUT everything else picks WEEKENDS ONLY... and Monday Holidays.

(Please note that U-PICK dates and varieties are subject to change -- influenced by such things as weather, ripening times, crop size, how soon they are all picked...)

JUNE 3 -- End JUNE Every Afternoon 3 to 7 pm (NO farm stand)  Strawberries are done for the season

Late JULY 25 -- SEPTEMBER 7 WEEKENDS 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Weekend FARM STAND opens.
             'PICK-YOUR-OWN' PEACHES  Plus, weekend FARM STAND.
• Weekends throughout August you may come to the farm and pick your own luscious, ripe peaches right off the tree! Please see the Pick-Your-Own page for details. Also, please visit our farm stand, open during U-Pick hours.

Late August, SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER WEEKENDS 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
            'PICK-YOUR-OWN' APPLES, PUMPKINS. Plus, our weekend FARM STAND is open.
• Weekends in late August, September and October,  you may come to the farm and pick your own juicy apples! Many varieties are available as they ripen throughout the harvest season. And, about mid-September, we'll have several varieties of pumpkins. See the Pick-Your-Own page for details. Also, please visit our farm stand during U-Pick hours.

OFF the farm:  MAY-JUNE through NOVEMBER-DECEMBER,

Farmers' Markets. This year (2009) we are participating in farmers' markets located in Dutchess, Westchester, Albany, and Bronx counties. We are in seven markets this year, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Please see the Farmers Markets page for details, and visit our stall at a market near you!
