Rhinebeck Market 2003Certain municipalities and other organizations have set up local retail farmers' markets at locations readily available to customers. These markets are usually open one day a week during the growing / harvest season, (though a few, mostly in New York City, are operated two or more days a week on a nearly year-round basis). They give the farmer another market for his farm-grown produce and related products, and the consumer an opportunity to purchase fresh produce and other products directly from the grower / producer.
